FastDraft works with boilerplate text stored in Libraries, Volumes and Clauses. A single Clause may contain anything from a few words to an entire document, though usually a Clause contains a single paragraph. Clauses are collected into Volumes. A Volume may correspond to a single document or may be a collection of related Clauses that you can mix and match to create a variety of documents. Libraries are useful for collecting sets of Volumes that all relate to one general area of practice.
Each Clause may contain any number of Variables, such as First Name, Last Name, Date of Agreement, and Settlement Amount. These Variables are stored in a Dictionary and can be used in any Clause.
You may assemble new documents in either of two ways. A SmartModel is a collection of Clauses that may also contain rules. For example, a rule may allow you to use only one of three mutually exclusive choice-of-law provisions. Or another rule could force the inclusion of one or more additional Clauses if you choose a Clause that triggers the rule.
Alternatively, you may assemble a new document by picking Clauses from one Volume or from any Volume within a Library.
