How to Bet on the Triple Crown

The Triple Crown has been dubbed as “the greatest horse racing event in the world” making it a betting heaven for horse racing fans. It’s an annual event consisting of three horse races – the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes – where thoroughbred horses compete for the prestigious Triple Crown title. However, even betting professionals must learn how to place their bets strategically during it – no one likes to lose money, right?

Picking a favorite is not as easy when competition is that strong – are you wondering where to start? A good start may be deciding what type of a bet you want to do.

The most challenging ones to go with are the win, place and show bets. In each, you win money if the horse you’ve picked finishes first, second or third accordingly – you can even group all of those together and make something called across the board. When doing that, you win money if your horse ends up on the first, second or third place, only in a lower amount. The exacta, trifecta and superfecta bets are also popular – you need to predict the top four horses in each race and still win some money even if you get some of them wrong.

Then, you need to pick a horse betting site on which you’re going to place your bets. While there is a variety out of which you can choose, you should pay attention to a few things. Make sure you see what their available markets are; then, whether they offer a chance to do in-play bets (meaning you can place your bets after the race’s started) and whether they offer some live streaming of the races. Also you need to make sure that you have read through any authentic horse betting blog and you are well informed about the betting process.

Don’t forget that there’s rarely a single favorite on the Triple Crown – pick wisely and considering how major the event is, you’re likely to go home with a hefty payout!
